Paul + Anna

Emerald Lake is one of my favourite places in all of the Rockies so when I had the opportunity to photograph and close friends engagement I couldn't think of any better place to go.

I made the short 2.5 hour drive from Calgary and arrived before the couple. Because it's located outside of Banff National Park I believe that Emerald Lake gets often overshadowed by Moraine Lake, Lake Louise, and even Peyto Lake in Jasper. Arriving at the parking lot further cemented my belief. Less than a dozen cars lined the parking lot. No tour busses, no big crowds. On a beautiful Sunday morning I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Paul, Anna, and Arlo arrived shortly after me and after taking a few photos of the landscape I met up with the couple. With smiles and high spirits in tow and a cool chill in the air we got started.

We spent our time walking around the trails that lead to the quaint cabins that dot the landscape. The lodge and surrounding area make for some really amazing photos. The long, narrow trails and the snow covered trees made for some unique layering and framing opportunities.

We spent nearly 3 hours wandering around this wintery landscape enjoying the experience. Cold as it may have been, it was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Nancy + Matt

This wedding was a real treat to shoot. I started the morning shooting the bride preparations before making my way to the ceremony location. The ceremony was held at a local Calgary craft brew house called Red Bison. A really cool and unique space to hold a wedding. A bit bittersweet in that it was their last day in business. After a short and sweet ceremony it was time for some portraits. We first headed out to Crescent Heights hill. It's a great location that overlooks downtown Calgary and the Bow River. We got some really great, quirky photos of the wedding party. Shots that really showed their personalities. Once we finished up at Crescent Heights hill we headed to Confederation Park in northwest Calgary. There we met with the bride and grooms families and spent some time taking some photos of the bridal party and their family.

It was an amazingly fun wedding to be a part of and I wish the happy couple all the best.

Jessica + Dave

Jessica and Dave had an amazing wedding surrounded by friends and family, from far and wide, in the Dominican Republic. Everything from the resort to the weather was just perfect and couldn't have gone any better.

The day started with some early morning breakfast followed by the getting ready photos of the bride and her bridesmaids. A quick jaunt to another room and it was time to capture the groom getting ready with his groomsmen. We then made our way to the garden gazebo where the ceremony took place. The gazebo was an incredible structure with towering pillars. The shade and subtle breeze made sure the guests were comfortable and out of the strong sun. It was the perfect place on the resort for the exchanging of vows.

A short and sweet ceremony later and we were off to explore the resort for some photos of the wedding party. We chose a few spots on the resort that provided some shade from the sun. This was a fun bunch of really close friends and siblings of the bride and groom. Despite the heat heat heat of the Caribbean the wedding party did an amazing job with the photos.

Right on the beach, the reception hall was a perfect place to have a party. We snapped a few photos of the families before the sun went down. Once the sun was down it was time to party!
